NQ Academy Webinar #5: Government Drilling Program

Starting in 2021, the geothermal exploration drilling activities in Indonesia will be busier than the previous years because Government Drilling program on 20 WKPs until 2024, supporting drilling GREM (Geothermal Risk Exploration Mitigation) facilities and enlivened by mandatory drilling of PSPE (Pre Survey & Exploration Assignment).

The Government Drilling is one of the Government action to accelerate geothermal development, particularly in risky phase “exploration drilling”. The program cover several activities: additional data acquisition, well targeting and peer review, infrastructure, and exploration drilling.

The objective of the program is to reduce the risks of geothermal development in order to make electricity rates from geothermal power plant (PLTP) more competitive. The Government Drilling program is expected to accelerate the development of geothermal energy, which required about 10 years to become commercially operational (COD).

Drilling contractor will be selected through tender mechanism, therefore the information regarding the government drilling program needs to be given clearly to all geothermal stakeholders.

NewQuest Geotechnology in collaboration with the Directorate General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (NREEC) – the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources through NQ Academy Webinar #5 will held a webinar entitled “Government Drilling: A Strategic Program for Reducing Geothermal Development Risks in Indonesia” that will be delivered directly by Mrs. Ir. Ida Nuryatin Finahari, M.Eng. She is the Director of Geothermal Energy at the Directorate General of NREEC. NQ Academy Webinar #5 will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021.

The Webinar will explain the Geothermal Working Areas (WKP) which will be included in the government drilling program, the strategies and preparations made to succeed the drilling, as well as the following step for each WKP after government drilling is finished.

The program has been long planned, finally it will be started in the middle of this year at 3 WKPs, so this is a good chance for the related contractors/ services companies to have a fruitful discussion with the Director.
