WKP Cisolok Cisukarame: First WKP to drill in Government Drilling Program
Tuesday, February 2, 2021
It has been long planned, finally government to starts Government Drilling Program in the middle of this year at 2 WKPs: WKP Cisolok Cisukarame, in West Java province and WKP Nage in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province
The exploration process will be carried out by the Geological Agency using the government budget, planned for 20 WKPs in the 2021-2024 period. The scope of Government Drilling are: data acquisition up to well targeting and peer review, land acquisition, infrastructure preparation, and Exploration Drilling 2 slim wells + 1 standard well.
The Cisolok Cisukarame WKP covers an area of 15,580 hectares located in Cisolok Village, Cisolok District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java Province. Exploration in this area has been started since 1970 in the framework of cooperation between the Indonesian and New Zealand governments. The concession area consist of protection forests area, plantations, production forests and other use areas (APL) of more than 13,000 Ha.
This WKP was established in 2007 with an Exploration Permit held by PT Jabar Rekind Geothermal. Data from the Geological Agency shows that this WKP has a potential of 45 MW. In 2020, government revokes the Exploration Permit and puts this WKP into 20 WKPs that will be drilled by the Government.
PLN, a State Own Enterprises, is interested in developing the Cisolok Cisukarame WKP and has asked NewQuest Geotechnology (NQG) to carry out a series of geoscience activities. In 2017, NewQuest Geotechnology conducted: remote sensing data interpretation, review of existing geological & geochemical data, reprocessing of existing geophysical data, integrated interpretation & conceptual model, resource calculation, well targeting, basic power plant design, and economic analysis.
Geothermal exploration drilling activities in Indonesia will be busier than the previous years because in addition to Government Drilling on 20 WKPs until 2024, drilling activities are also driven by GREM (Geothermal Risk Exploration Mitigation) facilities and enlivened by PSPE (Pre Survey & Exploration Assignment) mandatory drilling.
