NQ and IMT-GT Webinar on Exploration & Utilisation of Low-Medium Geothermal Resources For Green House Gas Reduction

Friday, April 23, 2021 NewQuest Geotechnology (NQ-Indonesia) in collaboration with The Centre for IMT-GT Subregional Cooperation (CIMT) and IMT-GT Working Group on Environment (WGE) will held a webinar entitled Promoting Sustainable Energy in the Subregion: Exploration & Utilisation of Low-Medium Geothermal Resources for GHG Reduction on 28 April 2021. Low to Medium temperature geothermal resources in ASEAN, spreads not only in Indonesia and the Philippines, but in almost all ASEAN countries. In Malaysia, according ERIA – Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia research 2017, there are around 273 MW geothermal potential that can be developed from 3 locations:…

NQ Academy Webinar #8: Lessons Learned from Geothermal Exploration in Muara Laboh

Wednesday, April 21, 2021 Exploration is a first stage in geothermal power plant development. Naturally, this stage has a high risks especially related to finding the geothermal resources. This will be more challenging if the geothermal prospect area has complexity in geological setting, located in a remote area, rough and steep terrain. Muara Laboh is one example of a success story of exploration which has been carried out by Supreme Energy. The exploration start from 2008 and successfully COD on December 2019 producing 85 MW of electric energy. It is not easy to develop a geothermal field, since there are many…

Review of NQ Academy Webinar #7: Geothermal Production Processes through Geochemical Interventions

Thursday, April 1, 2021 NQ Academy Webinar #7 has been held on March 27, 2021. The webinar entitled “Optimization of Geothermal Production Processes through Geochemical Interventions for Sustainable Geothermal Development” was presented by Muhamad Andhika, M.Si. He is a Production Geochemist at Sarulla Operation Ltd and has professional experiences in exploration and production geochemistry for more than 15 years. The 7th NQ Academy Webinar was well organized and attended by more than 100 participants. Dr. Yunus Daud, Founder of NewQuest Geotechnology was the host in the Webinar. At the opening, the host explained that geothermal is a heritage that can…

NQ Academy Webinar #7: Optimization of Geothermal Production Processes through Geochemical Interventions for Sustainable Geothermal Development

Thursday, March 25, 2021 Geothermal fluids are often strongly enriched with dissolved chemical content. It dissolves a lot of impurities from water-rock interaction. There are several chemical content such as silica, calcite, anhydrite, dan metal sulphide that might be found in the geothermal fluids. These chemical content might precipitate uncontrolled and create problems at the geothermal plant, in the reinjection well, or in the reservoir thus causing severe damages to the plant or the reservoir. Other problem in geothermal wells beside scaling is corrosion problem. Both problems have to be handled properly in vapor-dominated or liquid-dominated geothermal systems. The problems…

NQ Workshop: Journalism & Social Media

Monday, March 15, 2021 Nowadays, internet and digital technology play an important role in our world. We could find anything we want to know through internet. NewQuest Geotechnology (NQ) also concern about digital technology especially the role of Social Media to provide comprehensive information to the partners. The applications of social media should be well understand by all NQ personnel. By integrating all NQ personnel social media with NQ programs, we could increase the engagement to NQ partners. To realize the idea, all of NQ personnel should know their roles so they could applied it in their personal social media.…

Review of NQ Academy Webinar #6: From Large-Scale Tectonics to Field-Scale Geothermal Systems

Wednesday, March 3, 2021 NQ Academy Webinar #6 has been held on February 27, 2021. The webinar was presented by Dr. (cand) Lukman Sutrisno, a Ph.D. candidate in Tectonics & Geothermal on Joint Supervision Ph.D Program between Utrecht University (Netherland) and Universitas Indonesia. The Webinar was hosted by Dr. Yunus Daud, Founder of NewQuest Geotechnology, and was discussing the topic of “From Large-Scale Tectonics to Field-Scale Geothermal System: Lessons Learned from Sumatra”. The 6th NQ Academy Webinar was well organized and attended by more than 150 participants. The speaker use Sumatra as a case study and was discussing about two…

NQ Academy Webinar #6: From Large-Scale Tectonics to Field-Scale Geothermal System: Lessons Learned from Sumatra

Thursday, February 25, 2021 Sumatra is an island that has a large geothermal potential. With geothermal potential spread in 101 locations, Sumatra has geothermal energy resources of 9679 MW, about 40% of the total geothemal reserves in Indonesia. Currently, on Sumatra, there are geothermal powerplants (PLTP) with total capacity of 744.4 MW, thus there is still a large potential for geothermal energy development that can be utilized. The geothermal potential on the island of Sumatra has a unique system because it is related to the existence of the Sumatran Fault System (SFS). The existence of geothermal manifestations is very associate…

Review of NQ Academy Webinar #5: Final Preparation of Government Drilling Program

Friday, February 5, 2021 NQ Academy Webinar #5 has been held in collaboration with the Directorate General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (NREEC) – the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources on January 30, 2021. The webinar is presented by Director of Geothermal Energy at the Directorate General of NREEC with an interesting topic of “Government Drilling: A Strategic Program for Reducing Geothermal Development Risks in Indonesia”. The webinar is hosted by Dr. Yunus Daud, founder of NewQuest Geotechnogy. It has been long planned, finally government to starts Government Drilling Program in the middle of this year at…

WKP Cisolok Cisukarame: First WKP to drill in Government Drilling Program

Tuesday, February 2, 2021 It has been long planned, finally government to starts Government Drilling Program in the middle of this year at 2 WKPs: WKP Cisolok Cisukarame, in West Java province and WKP Nage in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province The exploration process will be carried out by the Geological Agency using the government budget, planned for 20 WKPs in the 2021-2024 period. The scope of Government Drilling are: data acquisition up to well targeting and peer review, land acquisition, infrastructure preparation, and Exploration Drilling 2 slim wells + 1 standard well. The Cisolok Cisukarame WKP covers an area…

NQ Academy Webinar #5: Government Drilling Program

Wednesday, January 27, 2021 Starting in 2021, the geothermal exploration drilling activities in Indonesia will be busier than the previous years because Government Drilling program on 20 WKPs until 2024, supporting drilling GREM (Geothermal Risk Exploration Mitigation) facilities and enlivened by mandatory drilling of PSPE (Pre Survey & Exploration Assignment). The Government Drilling is one of the Government action to accelerate geothermal development, particularly in risky phase “exploration drilling”. The program cover several activities: additional data acquisition, well targeting and peer review, infrastructure, and exploration drilling. The objective of the program is to reduce the risks of geothermal development in…
